The clerk of any court in which a physician registered in the commonwealth is convicted of any crime or in which an unregistered practitioner is convicted of holding himself out as a practitioner of medicine or of practicing medicine shall, within one week thereafter, report the same to the board of registration in medicine together with a copy of the court proceedings in the case. For the purposes of this section, a person shall be deemed to be convicted of a crime if he pleaded guilty or was found or adjudged guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.\nIn the instance where a physician pleads nolo contendere to charges or where sufficient facts of guilt were found and the matter was continued without a finding by a court of competent jurisdiction, such clerk shall, within one week thereafter, report the same to the board of registration in medicine together with a copy of the court proceedings in the case.","path":["Part III","Title I","Chapter 221"],"source_url":"https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartIII/TitleI/Chapter221/Section26","current_through":"amendments passed before May 31, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T05:24:47Z","sha256":"a4c6c834e0981eb3bdd6b730fd15fb3e932f739d13b4494807431e292d6c586a","source_id":"us-ma","stale":false,"prev":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-221-25","next":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-221-27"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
