(a) Any person may at any time apply to the commission for a certificate of self-insurance, whether or not there has occurred an accident as a result of which he might be affected by some other provision of sections forty-nine B to forty-nine R, inclusive.\n(b) The commission may issue a certificate of self-insurance when satisfied that the applicant is possessed and will continue to be possessed of ability to pay judgments against him within the limits provided in sections forty-nine B to forty-nine R, inclusive.\n(c) Upon not less than ten days' notice of a self-insurer the commission may for reasonable cause cancel a certificate of self-insurance, and shall cancel such certificate upon failure to pay any judgment within thirty days.","path":["Part I","Title XIV","Chapter 90"],"source_url":"https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleXIV/Chapter90/Section49G","current_through":"amendments passed before May 31, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T05:21:45Z","sha256":"a61cc0fe11a2aaa8c268650c287b3450211862d1c9c33a7029778fd321946684","source_id":"us-ma","stale":false,"prev":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-90-49f","next":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-90-49h"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
