Code, Agriculture § 10–403","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The University of Maryland Extension shall hire an extension agent to serve as a Native Plant Specialist.\n(2) The individual hired to serve as the Native Plant Specialist must have expertise in native plants.\n(b) The Native Plant Specialist shall:\n(1) Assist the University of Maryland Extension in fulfilling educational and professional training responsibilities related to the Program;\n(2) Coordinate with the Department to deliver educational components of the Program;\n(3) Provide input and expertise to the Department in the development of the Commercial Maryland Native Plant List developed under § 10–404 of this subtitle;\n(4) Provide input and expertise to the Department on the development of a list of certified Maryland native plant growers and retailers developed under § 10–405 of this subtitle;\n(5) Teach growers and other stakeholders about techniques for growing native plants; and\n(6) Coordinate education, applied research, and outreach to teach the public, landscapers, and other plant users about the importance, benefit, and availability of native plants.","path":["Article - Agriculture"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gag\u0026section=10-403","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:55:53Z","sha256":"b39400db5a1001e2a1a6b6ee852fb64b38c7582c0857ed0f396ed6d926ac6d77","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-agriculture-10-402","next":"us-md/md.-code-agriculture-10-404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
