Code, Agriculture § 2–203","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commission consists of:\n(1) One member who is ex officio and is the principal administrative official for agricultural affairs at the University System of Maryland as designated by the Chancellor of the University; and\n(2) The following members appointed by the Governor:\n(i) One representative of the dairy industry;\n(ii) One representative of the poultry industry;\n(iii) One representative of the livestock industry;\n(iv) One representative of the nursery, landscape, and greenhouse industry;\n(v) One representative of the fruit industry;\n(vi) One representative of the field crops industry;\n(vii) One representative of the vegetable industry;\n(viii) One representative of the veterinary profession;\n(ix) One representative of the Maryland State Grange;\n(x) One representative of the Maryland Farm Bureau;\n(xi) One representative of services related to agriculture;\n(xii) One representative of the turf industry;\n(xiii) One representative of the equine industry;\n(xiv) One representative of the food processing industry;\n(xv) One representative of the general public to be the consumer member;\n(xvi) One representative of the organic farming industry;\n(xvii) One representative of direct farm marketing;\n(xviii) One representative of viticulture;\n(xix) One representative of agriculture education in primary or secondary schools;\n(xx) One representative of agri–business;\n(xxi) One representative of the forestry industry;\n(xxii) One representative of the aquaculture industry;\n(xxiii) One representative of value–added agriculture and agritourism;\n(xxiv) One representative of the biofuel industry;\n(xxv) One representative of the hemp industry;\n(xxvi) One representative of the controlled environmental agriculture industry;\n(xxvii) One representative of socially disadvantaged farmers;\n(xxviii) One representative of veteran farmers;\n(xxix) One representative of the Committee on Young Farmers;\n(xxx) One representative of urban and small farmers; and\n(xxxi) One representative of new and beginning farmers.\n(b) (1) The consumer member of the Commission:\n(i) Shall be a member of the general public;\n(ii) May not be involved in any way with the activities on which the Commission advises the Secretary; and\n(iii) May not, within 1 year before appointment, have had a financial interest in or have received compensation from a person who is involved in any way with the activities on which the Commission advises the Secretary.\n(2) While a member of the Commission, the consumer member may not have a financial interest in or receive compensation from a person who is involved in any way with the activities on which the Commission advises the Secretary.\n(c) (1) The term of membership is 3 years.\n(2) A person may not serve more than two consecutive terms.","path":["Article - Agriculture"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gag\u0026section=2-203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:55:53Z","sha256":"72d9826e5b71dd00bafad26eb5e6fceb6149b94912918baa12df1eecba6a0ffe","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-agriculture-2-202","next":"us-md/md.-code-agriculture-2-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
