Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 2–116","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a private bulk sales permit.\n(b) The Executive Director may issue the permit to an individual who:\n(1) is at least 21 years old;\n(2) is a resident of the State;\n(3) files with the Executive Director an inventory of all alcoholic beverages to be sold; and\n(4) certifies that all alcoholic beverages to be sold:\n(i) have been acquired legally and transported into the State in accordance with this article; and\n(ii) are owned by the individual at the time of application.\n(c) The permit authorizes the holder to sell the permit holder’s private stock of alcoholic beverages to a person in accordance with this section.\n(d) A sale under the permit may:\n(1) be made by:\n(i) the permit holder; or\n(ii) an unlicensed agent or auction company acting on behalf of the permit holder;\n(2) take place on:\n(i) a premises not licensed under this article; or\n(ii) a private room of an on–sale retail license holder; and\n(3) be made to:\n(i) a State resident who is at least 21 years old;\n(ii) a retail dealer who holds the proper class of license; or\n(iii) a person outside the State, if the person may ship alcoholic beverages purchased under the permit to the person’s home state or state of ultimate destination.\n(e) (1) A permit expires 60 days after it is issued.\n(2) A person may not be issued more than two permits in a calendar year.\n(f) The permit fee:\n(1) is $25; and\n(2) covers the sale of a specific inventory of alcoholic beverages.\n(g) The Executive Director may adopt regulations regarding any activity relating to the permit, including record–keeping and reporting requirements.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=2-116","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"54984769f78bd900ec810f72b893088428beebc6f7c58fbcefb9ee5fba579f0e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-2-115","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-2-117"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
