Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 25–1013","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(2) “Movie theater” means a building designed or used primarily to exhibit motion pictures to the public.\n(3) (i) “Performing arts theater” means an area, a building, or a structure designed and used for plays, acts, dramas, or histrionics by actors or actresses performing on a stage.\n(ii) “Performing arts theater” does not include:\n1. a place where motion pictures are exhibited or shown; or\n2. a building or amphitheater that is part of a sports complex regularly used by minors.\n(b) There is a theater license.\n(c) The Board may issue the license for use on the premises of:\n(1) a performing arts theater; or\n(2) a movie theater operated by a nonprofit organization.\n(d) The license authorizes the license holder to sell beer and wine at retail for on–premises consumption when snacks are served.\n(e) The license holder may sell beer and wine:\n(1) 1 hour before and after a performance;\n(2) during an intermission; and\n(3) during a cast party and reception before and after a performance.\n(f) The license may not be transferred to another location.\n(g) The annual license fee is $100.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=25-1013","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"2ad6a7eb7ab9b571f4d728bf0648f7175eee41c311a9fcdf93728381f05b367e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-25-1012","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-25-1014"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
