Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 25–1201","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) There is a local caterer’s license.\n(2) The license is a separate alcoholic beverages license.\n(b) (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, the Board may issue the license to a person that:\n(i) does not already hold a license issued by the Board;\n(ii) has facilities to prepare and deliver food to the site of a catered event; and\n(iii) meets all other requirements of this article.\n(2) Before the Board issues or renews the license, the county health department shall approve the food preparation facilities for a catered event.\n(3) An applicant for or holder of the license is not required to have a banquet hall.\n(c) The license authorizes a holder to:\n(1) provide alcoholic beverages at an event that is held off the premises of the food preparation facilities; and\n(2) exercise the privileges of the license only during the hours and on the days authorized for a Class B beer, wine, and liquor license.\n(d) The license holder may not:\n(1) hold an event that the license holder sponsors; or\n(2) provide only alcoholic beverages at an event.\n(e) The license holder shall:\n(1) contract for and provide food for consumption at a catered event;\n(2) meet the same ratio of gross receipts between food and alcoholic beverage sales as a holder of a Class B beer, wine, and liquor license; and\n(3) purchase all alcoholic beverages from the Alcohol Beverage Services.\n(f) The annual license fee is $1,250.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=25-1201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"df8743d892dbb2397cc65f216f1fe6031ab1d103aefa2acaea29077c426f825e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-25-1105","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-25-1202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
