Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 31–1201","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a local caterer’s license.\n(b) (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, the Board may issue the license to the holder of a Class B restaurant or hotel (on–sale and off–sale) beer, wine, and liquor license.\n(2) Before the Board issues or renews the license, the county health department shall approve the food preparation facilities for a catered event.\n(c) The license authorizes a holder to:\n(1) provide beer, wine, and liquor at an event that is held off the premises for which the holder’s Class B restaurant or hotel (on–sale and off–sale) beer, wine, and liquor license is issued; and\n(2) exercise the privileges of the license only during the hours and on the days authorized for the holder’s Class B restaurant or hotel (on–sale and off–sale) beer, wine, and liquor license.\n(d) The license holder shall:\n(1) prepare, deliver, and provide food for consumption at the catered event;\n(2) provide the service employees to serve the beer, wine, and liquor at the catered event; and\n(3) ensure that at least one service employee is certified by an alcohol awareness program under § 4–505 of this article and is on the premises at all times during the catered event.\n(e) The annual license fee is $1,500.\n(f) This section does not require a holder of a Class B restaurant or hotel (on–sale and off–sale) beer, wine, and liquor license to obtain a local caterer’s license for catering on the premises for which the Class B license is issued.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=31-1201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"652c10d1eeaacf24451afa88a07478778e678c41acda2523c482443570cc8d07","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-31-1103","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-31-1301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
