Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 31–1308","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a wine tasting (WTL) license.\n(b) The Board may issue the license to a holder of any class of beer, wine, and liquor license.\n(c) The license authorizes the holder to allow:\n(1) the on–premises consumption of wine for tasting; and\n(2) a wholesaler or supplier to present various wines from a single brand owner.\n(d) The license holder shall notify the Board in writing at least 10 days before a tasting event.\n(e) A license holder may not serve more than 2 ounces of a single wine to a single customer.\n(f) A license holder may not charge for the wine tasting.\n(g) The license may be used for a maximum of:\n(1) 12 days in a licensing year for a 12–tasting license; and\n(2) 24 days in a licensing year for a 24–tasting license.\n(h) A single tasting event may not exceed 4 hours.\n(i) (1) A maximum of four bottles may be open at any time at a wine tasting event.\n(2) After a bottle of wine is opened for a tasting event:\n(i) the contents of the bottle may not be mixed with that of any other bottle; and\n(ii) the bottle shall be destroyed when empty.\n(j) The annual license fees are:\n(1) $200 for a 12–tasting license; and\n(2) $400 for a 24–tasting license.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=31-1308","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"84602ab32c2739c22b0aac0461c7e550b07b4334bbe43d0a2977f1fa18aaa5a2","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-31-1307","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-31-1309"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
