Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 33–2503","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b) of this section and elsewhere in this article, a person may not consume alcoholic beverages at any time on any day of the week in a restaurant, tavern, hotel, club, dance studio, disco, and any other place of public entertainment.\n(b) Exempt from subsection (a) of this section are:\n(1) the room of a registered guest in a hotel, motel, or hospice;\n(2) the property of a volunteer fire company;\n(3) a fishing club established before January 1, 1970; and\n(4) if it has been in existence for at least 3 years:\n(i) a catering establishment;\n(ii) a community or civic association;\n(iii) a swim club;\n(iv) a social, civic, nonprofit, charitable, fraternal, patriotic, educational, or public service organization; and\n(v) a religious institution.\n(c) The Board shall adopt regulations to carry out this section.\n(d) An owner, a manager, or an employee of an establishment or a place subject to the prohibitions of this section who knowingly allows consumption in violation of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine not exceeding $10,000.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=33-2503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"26c78682b21a52650c8dd98d85be6ffad4d901b73be1f7015be17fef70395bc3","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-33-2502","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-33-2601"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
