Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 36–502","heading":"","body":"(a) A person wishing to hold an ownership interest of 5% or greater in, or control of, a cannabis licensee shall submit to the Administration:\n(1) an application that includes the name, address, and date of birth of the applicant;\n(2) a statement signed by the applicant asserting that the applicant has not previously had a cannabis license or cannabis registration suspended or revoked;\n(3) a State and national criminal history records check in accordance with § 36–505 of this subtitle;\n(4) any information required by the Administration to complete an investigation into the background of the applicant, including financial records and other information relating to the business affairs of the applicant; and\n(5) an application fee in an amount to be determined by the Administration in accordance with this subtitle.\n(b) The Administration may deny an application if:\n(1) the applicant:\n(i) fails to submit the information required under subsection (a) of this section; or\n(ii) has been convicted of or pleaded nolo contendere to a crime involving moral turpitude, whether or not any appeal or other proceeding is pending to have the conviction or plea set aside; or\n(2) the Administration finds a substantial reason to deny the registration.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=36-502","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"9038d3962b4ffd5cbf79a449473db1474fa29a694d8699eb5c1040941fc6cb02","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-36-501","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-36-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
