Code, Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis § 9–2804","heading":"","body":"(a) A municipality may impose a penalty for the violation of an ordinance passed for the regulation and control of a license holder under this title.\n(b) (1) In lieu of suspension, the municipality may impose a fine not exceeding $2,500, which shall be paid into the general fund of the county.\n(2) In deciding whether to fine a license holder or suspend the license, the municipality shall consider whether:\n(i) the public welfare and morals would be impaired by allowing the license holder to operate during the suspension period; and\n(ii) the payment of the fine will achieve the desired disciplinary purposes.","path":["Article - Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gab\u0026section=9-2804","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:03Z","sha256":"a62e63847f07e2a08516e6736f160f132050aa958aa411eec653603e54358aa1","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-9-2803","next":"us-md/md.-code-alcoholic-beverages-and-cannabis-10-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
