Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 14–316","heading":"","body":"(a) The Board may issue a retired status license to an individual who:\n(1) is currently licensed in Maryland as a professional engineer;\n(2) has been licensed as a professional engineer for at least 25 years, of which at least 5 years were in Maryland;\n(3) is not the subject of a pending disciplinary action related to the practice of engineering in this or any other state;\n(4) submits to the Board an application on the form approved by the Board; and\n(5) pays to the Board a fee as set by the Board.\n(b) (1) The holder of a retired status license issued under this section may not engage in the practice of professional engineering.\n(2) The holder of a retired status license shall be permitted to use the designation of “Professional Engineer, Retired”.\n(c) The Board may reactivate the license of the holder of a retired status license if that individual:\n(1) submits to the Board an application for reactivation on the form approved by the Board;\n(2) meets all applicable continuing competency requirements determined by the Board;\n(3) is not the subject of a pending disciplinary action related to the practice of engineering in this or any other state; and\n(4) pays to the Board a reactivation fee as set by the Board.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=14-316","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"686461be3c8701b66e36b20d04ff407d66c48b0936865d6364fc62c7a9c9c241","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-14-315","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-14-317"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
