Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 16–401","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to the provisions of subsection (b) of this section, a licensed real estate appraiser shall keep, for 5 years from the date of delivery to the client, the original or a copy of:\n(1) each contract the licensee enters into for the provision of real estate appraisal services;\n(2) each appraisal report the licensee prepares or signs; and\n(3) all supporting data that the licensee assembles or formulates to prepare an appraisal report.\n(b) If, within the 5-year period for the retention of records, a licensed real estate appraiser is given notice that an appraisal or appraisal report is involved in litigation, a new 5-year period shall start on the date of the final disposition of the litigation.\n(c) On request, a licensed real estate appraiser shall make any record required to be kept under this section available to the Commission to inspect or copy.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=16-401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"58219ba8451369bb4a705247f57bf0234f21dc8f1b13d12d26af6ccae1ef18b7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-16-3a-08","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-16-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
