Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 17–524","heading":"","body":"(a) Each real estate contract submitted to a party by a real estate broker, an associate real estate broker, or a real estate salesperson for use in the sale of a single-family dwelling shall contain, in bold-faced type, a statement that the buyer has the right to select the buyer’s own:\n(1) title insurance company;\n(2) settlement company;\n(3) escrow company;\n(4) mortgage lender, or financial institution as defined in the Financial Institutions Article; or\n(5) title lawyer.\n(b) The statement required under subsection (a) of this section shall also contain, in bold-faced type, a statement that a seller may not be prohibited from offering owner financing as a condition of settlement.\n(c) A real estate contract is not rendered invalid by the omission of the statement to the buyer required under subsections (a) and (b) of this section.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=17-524","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"c1e2f21dbff28fb2926170168baa5bdc57f1923c79844d8f90a4a234240d6fd0","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-17-523","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-17-524.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
