Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 17–607.1","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “commercial real estate” has the meaning stated in § 17–524.1 of this title.\n(b) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (c) of this section, in a real estate transaction involving commercial real estate, a real estate broker, a nonresident real estate broker, an associate real estate broker, a real estate salesperson, a nonresident real estate salesperson, or a lawyer acting as a real estate broker may not require a buyer, as a condition of settlement, to employ a particular:\n(1) title insurance company;\n(2) settlement company;\n(3) escrow company; or\n(4) title lawyer.\n(c) A seller may not be prohibited from offering owner financing as a condition of settlement.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=17-607.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"f8a561aad050e0b2fbf4b3622b853a6a15e66cce589dc8e8c3e600be65373e7f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-17-607","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-17-608"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
