Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 2–4A–04","heading":"","body":"(a) A system review is required for a licensee or permit holder that performs any of the following services:\n(1) engagements governed by the Statements on Auditing Standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; or\n(2) engagements governed by the government auditing standards issued by the U.S. Government Accountability Office;\n(3) examinations of prospective financial information under:\n(i) the Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; or\n(ii) the government auditing standards issued by the U.S. Government Accountability Office; or\n(4) audits of issuers not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that are performed under standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.\n(b) An engagement review is required for a licensee or permit holder not required to have a system review that performs any of the following services:\n(1) review of historical financial statements in accordance with the Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants;\n(2) compilation of historical financial statements with disclosures performed under the Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants;\n(3) compilation of historical financial statements that omit substantially all disclosures performed under the Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; or\n(4) engagements performed under the Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants other than the examination of prospective financial statements.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=2-4A-04","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"85cc37dbfa991530d9e4a71babe1c1333cdf7add6fc53832523a85561d305baf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-2-4a-03","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-2-4a-05"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
