Code, Business Occupations and Professions § 6–503","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to the limitations in this subtitle, an individual may qualify for a reciprocal license from the State Board if the individual:\n(1) is registered with a local jurisdiction of the State to provide electrical services in the local jurisdiction;\n(2) applies for a reciprocal license of the same class or type as the applicant’s local registration that the State Board issues; and\n(3) at the time of application, does not have:\n(i) the same class or type of registration suspended or revoked by a local jurisdiction of the State; or\n(ii) a record of outstanding violations of the regulations of a local jurisdiction of the State.\n(b) The State Board shall waive any of the qualifications required for a license under this title for an individual who:\n(1) is registered with a local jurisdiction of the State, to provide the same class or type of electrical services as those permitted by the license for which the applicant is seeking a waiver; and\n(2) meets the waiver requirements of subsection (c) of this section.\n(c) The State Board shall grant a waiver under this section for an applicant who is registered with a local jurisdiction only if the applicant:\n(1) (i) 1. qualified for the registration by passing an examination given in the local jurisdiction; and\n2. has been registered for at least 1 year immediately before the date of application; or\n(ii) 1. qualified for the registration other than by passing an examination in the local jurisdiction; and\n2. has been registered for at least 2 years immediately before the date of application;\n(2) submits a written statement from the local jurisdiction certifying:\n(i) if the registration was earned on the basis of an examination, the date of registration; and\n(ii) the registrant:\n1. is in good standing with the local jurisdiction; and\n2. has no record of outstanding violations of regulations of the local jurisdiction;\n(3) pays any reciprocal license fee set by the State Board;\n(4) if required, submits proof of general liability insurance to the State Board; and\n(5) complies with any other licensing requirements of the State Board.","path":["Article - Business Occupations and Professions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbo\u0026section=6-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:13Z","sha256":"85a416fb8947084dbe0b397365e0ce54dabf61b296a0785b30ee7adc06768610","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-6-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-occupations-and-professions-6-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
