Code, Business Regulation § 1–505","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The Secretary may assess a civil penalty against a person engaged in a trade or business for each knowing and willful violation of this subtitle.\n(2) The civil penalty may not exceed $50 for each day the violation continues.\n(3) For purposes of this section, a separate violation occurs at each office, branch, or place of business where a violation occurs or continues.\n(4) The total civil penalty may not exceed $1,000.\n(b) In the event of the failure of a person to pay a penalty assessed under this section, a civil action for recovery of the penalty may be brought by the State against the person.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=1-505","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"b45f745e59f5c2433875dc233c01a9f7132909c51c8f397b9ee3a0ab69ca209b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-1-504","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-2-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
