Code, Business Regulation § 11–613","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A licensee whose average handle is $150,000 or less shall keep the breakage.\n(2) A licensee whose average handle is over $150,000 shall:\n(i) allocate 50% of the breakage to the Sires Stakes Program; and\n(ii) keep 50% of the breakage to pay for personnel-related expenses, physical improvements, track maintenance, and indebtedness related to the track, including indebtedness for clubhouse and grandstand construction.\n(b) If an average handle is over $600,000, the takeout shall be:\n(1) 17% from each regular mutuel pool;\n(2) 19% from each multiple mutuel pool for 2 horses; and\n(3) 25% from each multiple mutuel pool on 3 or more horses.\n(c) If the average handle is $600,000 or less, the takeout shall be:\n(1) not more than 18.75% from each regular mutuel pool;\n(2) not more than 20.75% from each multiple mutuel pool on 2 horses; and\n(3) not more than 26.75% from each multiple mutuel pool on 3 or more horses.\n(d) Money that remains after deductions are made under this section shall be returned as winnings to successful bettors.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=11-613","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"bdd1a48c099a411a3af0e7833b3f6e088adf82dbd8de9653bf7a51748ba5df83","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-11-612","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-11-614"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
