Code, Business Regulation § 14–213","heading":"","body":"(a) A person is not excused from attending, testifying, or producing evidence before the Commissioner, in a proceeding brought by the Commissioner, or in obedience to a subpoena of the Commissioner on the ground that the testimony or evidence may:\n(1) tend to incriminate the person; or\n(2) subject the person to a penalty or forfeiture.\n(b) (1) If a person claims the privilege against self-incrimination as to a specific subject, and is then compelled to testify or produce evidence on that subject, the person may not be prosecuted or subjected to a penalty or forfeiture in connection with that subject.\n(2) A person who testifies is not exempt from prosecution and punishment for perjury or contempt committed while testifying.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=14-213","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"9955f3d41cf9feb1d03a668f22ffa57e9f1a4039b5ef0b5de1945c3de504002d","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-14-212","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-14-214"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
