Code, Business Regulation § 16–309","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a person who violates this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine of $100.\n(b) A person who violates § 16–308.1 of this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding:\n(1) except as provided in items (2) and (3) of this subsection, $300;\n(2) for a second violation occurring within 2 years after the first violation, $1,000; and\n(3) for a third or subsequent violation occurring within 2 years after the preceding violation, $3,000.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=16-309","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"2fe572d664f7af2cf908a946c3bc08db5343d08761ff902b5916175cca5ecd74","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-16-308.3","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-16-3a-01"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
