Code, Business Regulation § 4–302","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, this subtitle does not apply to:\n(1) intercollegiate, interscholastic, or intramural boxing, kick boxing, or wrestling;\n(2) amateur boxing conducted under the supervision of a nationally recognized amateur organization;\n(3) martial arts where:\n(i) contact to the body is permitted in only a restrained manner;\n(ii) contact to the head is not permitted; and\n(iii) no contact is permitted that may result, or is intended to result, in physical harm to an opponent; or\n(4) a mixed martial arts exhibition.\n(b) Each boxer shall wear protective headgear in each amateur boxing match or exhibition.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=4-302","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"76b088695ae3ef8de665c252b63223d6f874a5266ad4e931fd304de681fe1ab5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-4-301","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-4-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
