Code, Business Regulation § 5–501","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a person may not buy, hold, or use, for burial:\n(1) more than 100 acres in the State; or\n(2) any land within the limits of a municipal corporation in the State, unless authorized to do so by the municipal corporation.\n(b) (1) In the Spauldings Election District of Prince George’s County, a person may buy, hold, or use, for burial, up to 125 acres in 1 tract.\n(2) In the Laurel Election District of Prince George’s County, a person that operated a cemetery on or before June 1, 1955, may buy, hold, or use, for burial, up to 200 acres in 1 tract.\n(3) In the Kent Election District of Prince George’s County, a person may buy, hold, or use, for burial, up to 150 acres in 1 tract.\n(c) In Frederick County, a person may buy, hold, or use, for burial, up to 150 acres in 1 tract.\n(d) In Baltimore County, a person may buy, hold, or use, for burial, up to 200 acres in 1 tract.","path":["Article - Business Regulation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gbr\u0026section=5-501","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:23Z","sha256":"132d920763e86e978e6ae5c5023699964d26d0645c122fb12e1a9b40fc662a67","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-5-405","next":"us-md/md.-code-business-regulation-5-502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
