Code, Commercial Law § 13–203","heading":"","body":"In addition to any other of his powers and duties, the Attorney General:\n(1) May recommend to the Governor and the General Assembly legislation to protect the public from fraudulent promoters and the schemes they propose;\n(2) Shall appoint an assistant, whose salary shall be as provided in the budget, to perform the duties of assistant Attorney General in charge of consumer protection;\n(3) Shall employ the investigators and clerical staff which he considers necessary to carry out the purpose of this subtitle; and\n(4) May use the funds and employ the media which he considers necessary to:\n(i) Fully acquaint the public and business community with the provisions of this title;\n(ii) Educate the public as to nefarious schemes which might be foisted on the public;\n(iii) Generally study consumer problems from the standpoint of value received by the consumer; and\n(iv) Report periodically to the public.","path":["Article - Commercial Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcl\u0026section=13-203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:33Z","sha256":"e02597258db7284e4cd67445ad13a47ec959dd50a69ed3ef8e1325f3e06eaccf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-13-202","next":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-13-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
