Code, Commercial Law § 4A–201","heading":"","body":"(a) “Security procedure” means a procedure established by agreement of a customer and a receiving bank for the purpose of:\n(1) Verifying that a payment order or communication amending or cancelling a payment order is that of the customer; or\n(2) Detecting error in the transmission or the content of the payment order or communication.\n(b) A “security procedure” may require the use of algorithms or other codes, identifying words or numbers, encryption, callback procedures, or similar security devices.\n(c) Comparison of a signature on a payment order or communication with an authorized specimen signature of the customer is not by itself a “security procedure”.","path":["Article - Commercial Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcl\u0026section=4A-201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:33Z","sha256":"4b2c0832bd83749e6dc1b632d94a25164c740a464e5df40dc121e1e637b3bd22","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-4a-108","next":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-4a-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
