Code, Commercial Law § 9–314","heading":"","body":"(a) A security interest in investment property, deposit accounts, letter-of-credit rights, electronic chattel paper, or electronic documents may be perfected by control of the collateral under § 7-106, § 9-104, § 9-105, § 9-106, or § 9-107.\n(b) A security interest in deposit accounts, electronic chattel paper, letter-of-credit rights, or electronic documents is perfected by control under § 7-106, § 9-104, § 9-105, or § 9-107 when the secured party obtains control and remains perfected by control only while the secured party retains control.\n(c) A security interest in investment property is perfected by control under § 9-106 from the time the secured party obtains control and remains perfected by control until:\n(1) The secured party does not have control; and\n(2) One of the following occurs:\n(A) If the collateral is a certificated security, the debtor has or acquires possession of the security certificate;\n(B) If the collateral is an uncertificated security, the issuer has registered or registers the debtor as the registered owner; or\n(C) If the collateral is a security entitlement, the debtor is or becomes the entitlement holder.","path":["Article - Commercial Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcl\u0026section=9-314","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:33Z","sha256":"ececbb27c6527f65c4c95859007b41b5a85c77a499f63cac69bd3f7437d369d1","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-9-313","next":"us-md/md.-code-commercial-law-9-315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
