Code, Corporations and Associations § 3–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Domestic business trust” or “business trust” means a business trust formed under the laws of the State.\n(c) “Domestic limited liability company” or “limited liability company” means a limited liability company formed under the laws of the State.\n(d) “Domestic limited partnership” or “limited partnership” means a partnership formed by 2 or more persons under the laws of the State and having one or more general partners and one or more limited partners.\n(e) “Domestic partnership” or “partnership” means a partnership formed under the laws of the State.\n(f) “Foreign business trust” means a business trust organized under the laws of the United States, another state of the United States, or a territory, possession, or district of the United States, or under the laws of a foreign country.\n(g) “Foreign limited liability company” means a limited liability company formed under the laws of any state, other than the State of Maryland, or under the laws of a foreign country.\n(h) “Foreign limited partnership” means a partnership formed under the laws of any state other than the State of Maryland or under the laws of a foreign country and having as partners one or more general partners and one or more limited partners.\n(i) “Foreign partnership” means a partnership formed under the laws of any state, other than this State, or under the laws of a foreign country.\n(j) “Interest in land” means any interest in real property, the title to which could be affected by recording an instrument in the land records.","path":["Article - Corporations and Associations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gca\u0026section=3-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:43Z","sha256":"81effbc4e3950d72092d9e4b4e97bc1795001502fc1c421365f3ca4e92ce6fcf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-2-707","next":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-3-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
