Code, Corporations and Associations § 4A–209","heading":"","body":"(a) The exclusive right to use a specified name for a domestic or foreign limited liability company may be reserved by:\n(1) A person who intends to organize a domestic limited liability company;\n(2) A domestic limited liability company that proposes to change its name;\n(3) A foreign limited liability company that intends to register to do business in this State; or\n(4) A foreign limited liability company registered to do business in this State that proposes to change its name.\n(b) (1) A person may reserve a specified name by filing a signed application with the Department.\n(2) If the Department finds that the name is available for use by a limited liability company, the Department shall reserve the name for 30 days for the exclusive use of the applicant.\n(c) The exclusive right to use a reserved name may be transferred to another person by filing with the Department a notice of the transfer which specifies the name and address of the transferee and is signed by the applicant for whom the name was reserved.","path":["Article - Corporations and Associations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gca\u0026section=4A-209","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:43Z","sha256":"ad76c82d53381d1627d887655a20979f3545c2788016f8fd7a194c19c936c311","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-4a-208","next":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-4a-210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
