Code, Corporations and Associations § 5–102","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Except as permitted under subsection (b) of this section, a corporation may be a professional corporation under § 5–112 of this subtitle solely for the purpose of rendering professional services within a single profession.\n(2) Except as provided in paragraph (3) of this subsection, a corporation that is eligible to be a professional corporation under this subtitle may not organize under any other corporate form permitted by this article.\n(3) Paragraph (2) of this subsection does not apply to professional services rendered by:\n(i) An architect;\n(ii) A professional engineer;\n(iii) A licensed real estate broker, licensed real estate salesperson, or licensed associate real estate broker; or\n(iv) A veterinarian.\n(b) A corporation may be a professional corporation under § 5–112 of this subtitle for the purpose of rendering the same, similar, or related professional services within 2 or more professions.","path":["Article - Corporations and Associations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gca\u0026section=5-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:43Z","sha256":"2694de4752ab5c4e498918b023f5f90486d7c4842d99ba0f54562f9355d93b24","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-5-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-corporations-and-associations-5-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
