Code, Correctional Services § 11–503","heading":"","body":"(a) An incarcerated individual shall be allowed a deduction of 5 days from the incarcerated individual’s term of confinement for each calendar month of presentence confinement during which the incarcerated individual:\n(1) does not violate the rules of discipline; and\n(2) labors with diligence and fidelity when the opportunity for labor is available.\n(b) The deductions described in this section shall:\n(1) begin on the day the incarcerated individual arrives at the local correctional facility;\n(2) be made on a prorated basis for any portion of a calendar month of presentence confinement during which the incarcerated individual is committed to the local correctional facility; and\n(3) cease on the day the incarcerated individual is:\n(i) sentenced to a local correctional facility;\n(ii) committed to the custody of the Commissioner of Correction; or\n(iii) released.","path":["Article - Correctional Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcs\u0026section=11-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:53Z","sha256":"5c3f751cbbc871fa1551cf0af4b4a2d4ba8f033b3bac2e791e146b828bbbf704","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-11-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-11-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
