Code, Correctional Services § 11–803","heading":"","body":"(a) The managing official of a local correctional facility or the managing official’s designee may issue a retake warrant for the apprehension and return of an escapee.\n(b) If a managing official or managing official’s designee issues a retake warrant under subsection (a) of this section, the managing official or designee shall forward a copy of the retake warrant to the State’s Attorney for the county in which the escape occurred.\n(c) A sheriff or police officer who is authorized to serve criminal process and to whom a warrant issued under this section is delivered shall execute the warrant in accordance with the directions in the warrant.\n(d) A sheriff or police officer who makes an arrest under this section shall promptly notify the managing official, or managing official’s designee, who issued the warrant of the arrest.","path":["Article - Correctional Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcs\u0026section=11-803","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:53Z","sha256":"e7d58199575e7d4bc1a658a5e356f4d977ec0ccbc6d397f9da4c06e52924ce2a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-11-802","next":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-11-901"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
