Code, Correctional Services § 3–218","heading":"","body":"(a) An officer or other employee of the Division may not:\n(1) accept a reward or gift, or a promise of a reward or gift, from an incarcerated individual in a correctional facility in the Division or from a person on behalf of an incarcerated individual;\n(2) receive a devise or bequest, or a promise of a devise or bequest, from an incarcerated individual in a correctional facility in the Division or from a person on behalf of an incarcerated individual; or\n(3) enter into a contract with an incarcerated individual in a correctional facility in the Division or with a person on behalf of an incarcerated individual.\n(b) A gift, reward, bequest, devise, promise, or contract accepted, received, or entered into in violation of this section is void.\n(c) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $500.","path":["Article - Correctional Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcs\u0026section=3-218","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:53Z","sha256":"32eb886147b737e69ac1fd768c620f7a892048804946104d1285bcc374b3987b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-3-217","next":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-3-219"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
