Code, Correctional Services § 9–606","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to local correctional facilities and correctional facilities in the Division of Correction.\n(b) On the recommendation of a health care provider, the managing official of a correctional facility or the managing official’s designee may authorize medical treatment of a juvenile incarcerated individual if:\n(1) in the judgment of the managing official or designee, the treatment is necessary; and\n(2) a parent, guardian, or person in loco parentis of the juvenile is not available on a timely basis to give the authorization.\n(c) A managing official or designee may not be held liable for authorizing medically necessary treatment in good faith.","path":["Article - Correctional Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcs\u0026section=9-606","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:56:53Z","sha256":"1142828e95abfe56a123c80bc324c320ce60f0d9915081708004c6fdca808400","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-9-605","next":"us-md/md.-code-correctional-services-9-607"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
