Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 10–1101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Beneficiary” means an individual who may bring an action for wrongful death under Title 3, Subtitle 9 of this article.\n(c) “Claimant” means:\n(1) A person who alleges damages as a result of a tort involving bodily injury or an attorney who represents the person; or\n(2) A personal representative of the estate of a decedent who died as a result of an alleged tort or an attorney who represents the personal representative of the estate of the decedent.\n(d) “Insurer” includes a property and casualty insurer, a self–insurance plan, or any person required to provide indemnification for a claim for wrongful death, personal injury, or property damage.\n(e) “Vehicle” has the meaning stated in § 11–176 of the Transportation Article.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=10-1101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"800db5d933266d652586c11ad96480cf8d3d7809abb0db1333607c181651ea03","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-1004","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-1102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
