Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 10–1103","heading":"","body":"(a) This section does not apply to a claim described under § 10–1104 of this subtitle.\n(b) A claimant may obtain the documentation described in § 10–1102 of this subtitle if the claimant provides in writing to the insurer:\n(1) The date of the alleged tort;\n(2) The name and last known address of the alleged tortfeasor;\n(3) A copy of any vehicle accident report, police report, or other official report concerning the alleged tort, if available;\n(4) The insurer’s claim number, if available; and\n(5) A letter from an attorney admitted to practice law in the State certifying that:\n(i) The attorney has made reasonable efforts to investigate the underlying facts of the claim; and\n(ii) Based on the attorney’s investigation, the attorney reasonably believes that the claim is not frivolous.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=10-1103","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"54204f04f29f2c4528a97f49fb6032ef334e91981c836468c583284cc9ecfbe2","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-1102","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-1104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
