Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 10–4B–03","heading":"","body":"(a) An investigative or law enforcement officer may make application for an order or an extension of an order under § 10-4B-04 of this subtitle authorizing or approving the installation and use of a pen register or a trap and trace device, in writing, under oath or equivalent affirmation, to a court of competent jurisdiction of this State.\n(b) An application under subsection (a) of this section shall include:\n(1) The identity of the State law enforcement or investigative officer making the application and the identity of the law enforcement agency conducting the investigation; and\n(2) A statement under oath by the applicant that the information likely to be obtained is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by that agency.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=10-4B-03","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"b92903761c4fd81e9a379699389e759656cbf0d65e894224b1759e2e072e0c6e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-4b-02","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-10-4b-04"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
