Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 3–1102","heading":"","body":"A motor carrier is responsible for the expense of an emergency response, containment, cleanup, and abatement of a spill of hazardous materials in a traffic accident by a volunteer fire department, volunteer rescue squad, volunteer ambulance company, or the individual members of the department, squad, or company if the motor carrier:\n(1) Transports a hazardous material in commerce on a highway in the State; and\n(2) Is at fault and causes a traffic accident in the State that results in:\n(i) A spill or discharge involving hazardous materials; and\n(ii) An emergency response, containment, cleanup, and abatement by the volunteer fire department, volunteer rescue squad, or volunteer ambulance company.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=3-1102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"922f37db6d5ae165d631116e28dfbd98156d452c10db92d4ab83df878b3eaa0a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-1101","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-1102.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
