Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 3–1801","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Mediation” means a process in which parties work with one or more impartial mediators who assist the parties in reaching a voluntary agreement for the resolution of a dispute or issues that are part of a dispute.\n(c) (1) “Mediation communication” means a communication, whether by speech, writing, or conduct, made as part of a mediation.\n(2) “Mediation communication” includes a communication made for the purpose of considering, initiating, continuing, reconvening, or evaluating a mediation or a mediator.\n(d) “Mediator” means an individual who:\n(1) Assists parties in reaching their own voluntary agreement for the resolution of a dispute; and\n(2) Adheres to the Maryland Standard of Conduct for Mediators.\n(e) “Party” means a person that participates in a mediation and whose agreement is necessary to resolve the dispute.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=3-1801","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"3435bfcae3c4efe5d0a4e86e1fc8c909675088014b01c664706f64905bdd7e9e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-1701","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-1802"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
