Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 3–2601","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) (1) “Common carrier” means a person that is engaged in the public transportation of persons for hire by land.\n(2) “Common carrier” includes:\n(i) A car company, a motor vehicle company, an automobile company, or a motor bus company;\n(ii) A railroad company, street railroad company, or sleeping car company; and\n(iii) A transit company.\n(3) “Common carrier” does not include any entity owned by the State or a local government.\n(c) “Public infrastructure” means a bridge or highway owned, controlled, or maintained by the State or a county or municipal government.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=3-2601","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"6f8334583c6cc0bcab88004eb58b4eab50acf16a1e567be9e1c44be3ef0a7b94","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-2504","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-3-2602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
