Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 5–618","heading":"","body":"(a) Any person who files a petition, participates in the making of a good faith report, or participates in an investigation or in a judicial proceeding resulting from the filing of a petition or the making of a good faith report, under § 13-705 or § 13-709 of the Estates and Trusts Article or Title 14, Subtitle 3 of the Family Law Article, shall in so doing be immune from any civil liability or criminal penalty that might otherwise be incurred or imposed as a result thereof.\n(b) A law enforcement officer is not civilly or criminally liable for transporting an adult to an appropriate medical facility under § 13-709 of the Estates and Trusts Article if the officer acts:\n(1) In a reasonably prudent manner; and\n(2) Within the scope of the officer’s employment.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=5-618","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"f8e325dbf9da1959c3095088c38ced7ef8eb0a896f7bc7f9ad5cf5fe8e51276f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-5-617","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-5-619"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
