Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 5–632","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(2) “Hospital” has the meaning stated in § 19-301 of the Health - General Article.\n(3) “Related institution” has the meaning stated in § 19-301 of the Health - General Article.\n(b) Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, a hospital or related institution is not immune from liability for negligence or any other tort on the grounds that the hospital or related institution is a charitable institution.\n(c) A hospital or related institution that is a charitable institution and is insured against this liability in an amount of not less than $100,000 is not liable for damages in excess of the limits of that insurance.","path":["Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcj\u0026section=5-632","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:03Z","sha256":"38e45d836aaa072cde3222789596f04492b7729ef8b2244626917d168c2a2de4","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-5-631","next":"us-md/md.-code-courts-and-judicial-proceedings-5-633"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
