Code, Criminal Law § 10–620","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “equine” includes horses, donkeys, mules, and ponies.\n(b) This section does not apply to the owner of the equine or a person acting on behalf of or at the direction of the owner of the equine.\n(c) A person may not:\n(1) willfully and maliciously interfere with, injure, destroy, or tamper with an equine used for:\n(i) racing or breeding;\n(ii) a competitive exhibition of skill, breed, or stamina; or\n(iii) any other lawful activity;\n(2) willfully start, instigate, engage in, or further an act that interferes with, injures, destroys, or tampers with an equine used for:\n(i) racing or breeding;\n(ii) a competitive exhibition of skill, breed, or stamina; or\n(iii) any other lawful activity; or\n(3) commit an act that tends to interfere with, injure, destroy, or tamper with an equine used for:\n(i) racing or breeding;\n(ii) a competitive exhibition of skill, breed, or stamina; or\n(iii) any other lawful activity.\n(d) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or both.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=10-620","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"3a8232a9910cbdebbb554b57a956d5e6b6e781de3bd5c8d91ed35f5dd81f1a47","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-10-619","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-10-621"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
