Code, Criminal Law § 12–205","heading":"","body":"(a) This section does not apply to a person who possesses:\n(1) an item that is prohibited under this section that was obtained to procure or furnish evidence of a violation of this subtitle; or\n(2) a lottery ticket or slip issued by this State or another government.\n(b) A person may not:\n(1) bring a lottery device into the State; or\n(2) possess a book, list, slip, or record of:\n(i) the numbers drawn in a lottery in this State or another state or country;\n(ii) a lottery device; or\n(iii) money received or to be received from the sale of a lottery device.\n(c) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=12-205","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"e71dc890a17fa75832d2084f54783e1538c89d2a5cbef5e460d2630fc61642c5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-12-204","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-12-206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
