Code, Criminal Law § 13–1306","heading":"","body":"(a) A person authorized to conduct bingo under this subtitle shall obtain a bingo permit from the county Department of Permits and Inspections.\n(b) Any of the following organizations, if a legal resident of the county, may conduct bingo to benefit charity in the county or to further the purposes of one of the following organizations:\n(1) a bona fide:\n(i) religious organization;\n(ii) fraternal organization;\n(iii) patriotic organization;\n(iv) educational organization;\n(v) civic organization;\n(vi) war veterans’ organization;\n(vii) hospital;\n(viii) amateur athletic organization; or\n(ix) charitable organization;\n(2) a volunteer:\n(i) fire company;\n(ii) rescue company; or\n(iii) ambulance company; or\n(3) an auxiliary for a volunteer:\n(i) fire company;\n(ii) rescue company; or\n(iii) ambulance company.\n(c) (1) A person who is not a legal resident of Frederick County may not conduct bingo.\n(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1) of this subsection, each year the Frederick County Agricultural Association may sell or lease a right or concession to any person to conduct bingo at the Frederick County Fair.\n(d) (1) To qualify for a bingo permit, a person shall meet the requirements set by Frederick County.\n(2) The county may require an applicant for a bingo permit to pay a permit fee set by the county.\n(e) A person who conducts bingo may not offer or award:\n(1) a prize or award with a fair market value exceeding $5,000; or\n(2) a money prize exceeding $5,000.\n(f) Frederick County may adopt regulations to carry out this section.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=13-1306","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"b5a9752afa5041232e1e12206cfa13f222b5c04f204781294fe8a6e57a05db34","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-13-1305","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-13-1307"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
