Code, Criminal Law § 13–907","heading":"","body":"(a) Before an organization may conduct bingo under this subtitle, the organization shall obtain a permit from the county commissioners.\n(b) (1) In this subsection, “qualified organization” means a bona fide:\n(i) religious organization;\n(ii) fraternal organization;\n(iii) patriotic organization;\n(iv) educational organization;\n(v) charitable organization;\n(vi) volunteer fire company; or\n(vii) senior center site council.\n(2) A qualified organization may conduct bingo in the county to benefit charity or to further the purpose of the qualified organization.\n(c) (1) A senior center site council may obtain a permit to conduct bingo in a senior center 5 days per week, excluding Sunday.\n(2) A senior center site council may not:\n(i) award a prize of money to a winner exceeding $50 in each session; or\n(ii) charge more than 5 cents for each bingo card.\n(3) All money that remains after prizes are awarded shall be distributed to the senior center site council.\n(d) (1) An applicant for a permit shall pay the fee that the county commissioners set.\n(2) The county commissioners shall set the permit fee at a level sufficient to cover the costs of issuing the permit.\n(e) (1) Only the holder of a permit issued under this section may conduct bingo authorized by the permit.\n(2) The holder of a permit issued under this section may not transfer or assign the right to conduct bingo to another person.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=13-907","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"3d3dcfa3d2298d39693a14b3853e14998c172e49ad628197b1d8de0b7da1fe62","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-13-906.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-13-908"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
