Code, Criminal Law § 5–904","heading":"","body":"(a) A registrant may not:\n(1) distribute or dispense a controlled dangerous substance listed in Schedule I or Schedule II in violation of § 5-303(d) of this title; or\n(2) distribute a controlled dangerous substance listed in Schedule I or Schedule II in the course of the registrant’s legitimate business, except in accordance with an order form under § 5-303(d) of this title.\n(b) (1) If the trier of fact specifically finds that a person knowingly or intentionally violated subsection (a)(1) of this section, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 2 years or a fine not exceeding $100,000 or both.\n(2) In all other cases, a person who violates subsection (a)(1) of this section is subject to a civil penalty not exceeding $50,000.\n(3) A person who willfully violates subsection (a)(2) of this section is guilty of a felony and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 10 years or a fine not exceeding $100,000 or both.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=5-904","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"937d1ed24989564ff80a2cf9e90b9cd21a1da95409d72ce297a165fcb43c791a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-5-903","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-5-905"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
