Code, Criminal Law § 6–307","heading":"","body":"(a) A person may not:\n(1) sell or possess a stolen:\n(i) manufactured serial number; or\n(ii) vehicle identification plate or label; or\n(2) possess a manufactured serial number or vehicle identification plate or label if the person intends it to be:\n(i) affixed to stolen property; or\n(ii) used for fraudulent purposes.\n(b) A person who violates a provision of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 18 months or a fine not exceeding $500 or both for each violation.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=6-307","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"5cf38ffeb4f6aa449302a73f0678b812c41c2305069152525620cf367cb91944","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-6-306","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-6-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
