Code, Criminal Law § 7–115","heading":"","body":"(a) While a contract of pledge or hypothecation is in effect, a person may not, without the consent of the pledgor, repledge or rehypothecate a security, the title to which passes by delivery or endorsement received or held by the person as guaranty for money lent or advanced to the owner or holder of the security.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or a fine not less than $500 and not exceeding $5,000 or both.\n(c) A person who violates this section is subject to § 5-106(b) of the Courts Article.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=7-115","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"7735d2f6393bd1653f2dba47e266ba5b5779fe553f6cfae44d76968616f3747a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-7-114","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-7-116"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
