Code, Criminal Law § 8–401","heading":"","body":"(a) A partner may not with fraudulent intent:\n(1) convert or appropriate to the partner’s own use partnership money or property;\n(2) make, or cause to be made, a false entry in partnership records of a partnership transaction; or\n(3) fail to make or cause to be made an entry in partnership records to show the true state of a transaction:\n(i) relating to partnership business; or\n(ii) involving the use of partnership money or property.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 10 years or a fine not exceeding $5,000 or both.\n(c) A person who violates this section is subject to § 5-106(b) of the Courts Article.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=8-401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"bfdc373ce5874a2d65925911d965612f89bda9ac6a10e0465220584f4906b7fe","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-305","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
